Ohio Machine v Colorado Outlaws MLL

Ohio Machine vs Colorado Outlaws – May 4, 2013 – Selby Stadium, Campus of Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, OH

After a hard-fought game with Denver, Ohio dropped its opening game by a score of 8-13. Chazz Woodson scored the first goal of the season for the Machine only about 3 minutes in, but a strong offensive effort by Denver led to a 1-3 score at the end of the first. In the second quarter, Ohio was able to cut the deficit to 1 going into half time.  The third quarter was a tough one for the home crowd, only seeing a goal by Eric O’ Brien to lessen to the pain of a 5-10 score. A hard push by the Machine in the fourth was not enough, sadly, as it only resulted in three more goals to each team.

Great games were played by goalies Stefan Schroder (Machine) and Jesse Schwartzman (Outlaws). Schroder finished with a 48% save percentage, while Schwartzman stopped 8 of 16 to get to 50% on the night. On the topic of offensive struggle, O’ Brien said after the game, “Transitions are our game; the offense needs more time to click and our face-offs need work. The rust is off, we’ll be more comfortable and I see significant improvement.”
