Flying Cedar Point’s newest coaster, GateKeeper

Cedar Point, located in Sandusky, Ohio, opened their doors this past Saturday for their 144th season. Those “doors” look a lot different than seasons past after the huge makeover the front of the park received with the addition of the park’s 16th roller coaster, GateKeeper. Two of the park’s rides, Disaster Transport (the coaster formally known as “Avalanche Run”) and the Space Spiral were demolished to make room for the new coaster.

Columbus Zoo welcomes new tiger cubs

Four Amur tiger cubs were born at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on March 22 and 23. The first cub was born at approximately 5:30 p.m. and the last one arrived about eight hours later. The newborn cubs, which generally weigh just two to three pounds at birth, are being monitored by the animal care team using a remote feed from a camera mounted in the den. The cubs are currently being cared for by their mother.

Ashland to host senior art exhibition

Held each spring, Ashland University’s Coburn Gallery hosts the Senior Art Exhibition which features the capstone experience for graduating art majors.

Known for a unique folk rock style, English band Mumford and Sons lit up the “car park” (in the words of keyboardist Ben Lovett) at the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion on Tuesday night. Ask any Collective Soul fan, “What is the band’s best album?” and they will most likely point to 1999′s Dosage. Sure a few might hem and haw for a minute maybe two. They might consider 1995’s self-titled album. Some might even think of claiming their live album, 2005’s Home, as their best. Eventually, they still come back to Dosage. 80s rock icons REO Speedwagon performed in Huntington Park Thursday in a concert benefiting Buckeye Ranch, a charity that provides mental health treatment for children and their families.

This time a year ago I listened to a song titled ‘Dear Cocaine’. This song hit me hard, and not because of the name of the song, but because of the meaning behind it. Not all of the head-banging and body surfing at last week’s Rock on the Range festival at Crew Stadium happened on the main stage.
